Superpore/Superpore EX

"Superpore" is a β-type tricalcium phosphate artificial bone. We have a product lineup with different porosity and compressive strength, such as a super pore that balances material absorption and bone tissue replacement, a hard type with high compressive strength, and a β-TCP (super pore EX) with high strength, which can be selected according to the application.

Features

By applying the triple pore structure of “Apaseram-AX”, which has excellent bone regeneration ability, to β-type tricalcium phosphate, which is an absorbable artificial bone, it is an artificial bone that has excellent bone regeneration ability and has both a balance between material absorption and bone tissue replacement.

It is a β-type tricalcium phosphate artificial bone with unprecedented strength. It has a three-stomatal structure that is ideal for bone regeneration, and has an excellent balance between early bone formation and material absorption and bone tissue regeneration.

SUPERPORE Standard Type

1. Triple pore structure developed using our unique technologies

SUPERPORE promotes early bone regeneration and remedy of bone tissue into its pores.

2. Well-balanced absorption of the material and replacement to bone

SUPERPORE makes the most of the property of high purity β-tricalcium phosphate to be replaced to autologous bone.

3. Good operability in surgery

Uniform macro pore structure of approximately 200μm prevents breakage of the material.

Triple pore structure

The superpore has a triple pore structure that is ideal for bone regeneration as demonstrated in APACERAM-AX.

Fast bone formation, absorption and bone replacement

Evaluation by short to long term implantation test in canines.※3

Cortical bone:New bone formation and absorption of material were observed in 4 weeks after implantation. Maturation of the new bone was observed in 8 weeks. Further maturation progressed in 13 weeks and the material was almost absorbed in 26 weeks.

Medullary cavity:In 4 weeks after implantation, new bone formation and expansion of the pores were observed. Absorption of the material progressed in 8 weeks and bone marrow tissue was clearly observed in 13 weeks. The material was almost completely absorbed in 26 weeks.

As a result, regeneration of the bone was achieved in both cortical bone and medullary cavity including anatomical shape.

SUPERPORE high porosity type blocks (porosity 75%, Ø4mm x 12mmL) were implanted in the femurs of the canines and extracted in 4, 8, 13 and 26 weeks. Samples stained by toluidine blue were prepared for observation. (Implantation test was executed in accordance to ISO10993 in the facility of GLP level.)

Balanced Bone Formation, Resorption, and Early Regeneration

A φ4×L12 mm bone defect was created in the femur of a beagle, and a Super Pore EX implant of the same shape was placed. The implant was extracted at 26 and 52 weeks, and decalcified H&E stained specimens were prepared. The implantation test followed ISO 10993 and was conducted at a GLP-compliant facility.

26 Weeks: Bone formation continuous with native bone and material resorption with bone replacement observed in the cortical bone.
52 Weeks: Material almost fully resorbed and replaced, with anatomical regeneration across the implant site.
